CHANGED IN 3 YEARS

Here is a picture that shows Moria when she was five before her parents death and then three years later after she had lived with Malcolm. As you can see there is a big difference.

This is the main reason that Moria sometimes comes off as aloof and uncaring. Due to three years where she essentially needed to take care of herself or she would have died. And while many people saw or at least suspected the abuse, none acted upon those suspicions. She reveals to Sirius and the others, that she hated Primary School due to the fact that many of the kids used her as their means of torment, but she never missed a day because that meant she was away from Malcolm for a few hours. She also reveals to Lily and Alice that many kids saw her scars when she was younger and when she told them what had happened, they had called her a liar, causing her to go silent about her abuse.
